Bobby was the photographer and I was his stage hand. It was quite an experience and I learned a lot. We worked from the moment we got to the condo (4:30 pm) until 8:30 that night and all day the next day. What I didn't know before that I do know now is that most professional photographs that you see in print adds, glossy color brochures, etc are actually made up of layers of the same scene. So you under-expose one shot to get the vivid colors of the sunset out the glass patio doors and then you starting lighting the interior for the best exposure and take two or more shots with varying lighting techniques. Once the digital prints are layered over each other, it is a better representation of what the human eye takes in with all of the various shades of light from all other different sources. Thanks to Bobby, the mystery has been solved on how to get a REALLY good professional photo.

The last day that we were there and were finishing up the final photos of the master bedroom.....I yelled at Bobby that we were going to get a spectacular sunset in just a few minutes. That night was different from the night before in that we had layers of thin white cumulous clouds spread out across the horizon so that when the sun starting setting and shooting up the shades of orange, pink and fuschia, the blue of the sky showing between the clouds lit up as an electric turquoise color. We ran down to the pool just as the pool lights were being turned on and caught some amazing photographs of the lit up infinity pool, the lush tropical landscaping, the beach, the ocean crashing in and the most magnificent sunset that I've ever seen. We will be posting them soon so stay tuned.

La Perla del Mar is waiting for you to visit, rent or buy a fractional ownership. If you are interested in learning more.......please contact me.

And the countdown starts.....

La Perla del Mar is almost ready to launch. A very dear friend of mine is taking care of the finishing touches on the condo this week (while enjoying the warm Mexican sun). We are outfitting the condo with every possible convenience a homeowner could want. The unit will feature fully outfitted kitchen, stocked pantry, all electronics, phones, wireless internet, luxury linens and bath towels, carefully selected art pieces, assessories, even beach towels and boogie boards for the beach. There is a nice patio table and chairs, gas barbeque grill complete with bbq tools to cook up a wonderful dinner while gazing out over the pacific ocean as the sun is setting on the horizon.

The photographer is all lined up for the marketing photos and I am working with the developer and the sales team on the presentation and marketing plans for the unit. It is all very exciting! It will be my first launch of a fractional project and a good one to use as a test case because it is my own.

Stay tuned for new photos and more information as the project launches.

Mazatlan, Travel & Leisures's Emerging Destinations

I had referenced in a previous post about the revitalization going on in the Historic District of Mazatlan, which is commonly referred to as "old Mazatlan". I've attached an article that lists the reasons why Mazatlan was chosen as an emerging travel destination for Travel & Leisure in 2009. It's a beautiful area, full of culture, art galleries, the Teatro Angela Peralta opera house, the Plaza Machada, small shops and wonderful restaurants. It surely beats the commercialized Zona Dorado which is a strip along the beach north of Centro Historico where all your chain restaurants, strip malls and tourist hotels reside.

Mazatlan is worth a trip if you're considering a mexican vacation in the next year. Click on the title of this entry for a look at the full article available in Travel & Leisure magazine.

A condo to share.......

We are just in the finishing stages of furnishing a beautiful two bedroom two bath oceanfront condo in the beautiful resort of Estrella Del Mar in Mazatlan. Once the unit is complete, we will be marketing out 6 week fractional ownership shares in the condo for a very affordable price. It's just too extraordinary to keep for ourselves. You can enjoy the unit yourself or rent out your weeks for supplemental income or a combination of both. If you enjoy the beach, the surf and are perhaps a golf enthusiast, you will be enamored with La Perla del Mar.

Here are just some of the resorts features:

1. An 18 hole oceanfront golf course designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr.
2. Pro Shop with bar and restaurant
3. Small boutique villa hotel
4. Grocery store on site
5. Extra large swimming pool and hot tub just feet away
6. Miles and miles of white sand beaches
7. Turtle Sanctuary
8. Daily shuttle service from the airport and into downtown Mazatlan
9. Underground parking and storage for homeowners
10. Luxuriously appointed interior furnishings

And this is just the start..........Mazatlan is being revitalized! There are two major districts to Mazatlan, Old Town and Zonal Dorado (The Gold Zone). The Gold Zone has been known for years as the tourist strip.........miles of hotels, restaurants and shopping. The Old Town district has been popular with the locals and expat population of Mazatlan. This is the heart of the city and has streets of beautiful historical architecture which in recent years has undergone restoration by business owners and private homeowners. They have been converting some of the old city villas into beautiful shops, art galleries, private villas, etc. The restaurants are plentiful, there is music in El Centro on the weekends. Shopping is plentiful including an open market with handmade items, local produce, etc.
